Welcome

To the pages of our garden in Nykøbing Mors on the island of Mors, situated in the north-western part of Denmark only 20 miles from the North Sea.

The garden is 1650 square meters on a sloping site. The soil is sandy, free-draining and neutral to alkaline. But we have added a lot of organic matter to meet the requirements of the different plants we are growing.

When planning the garden we got our inspiration from many visits to English and Scottish gardens. We have features like: Gravel Garden, Laburnum Arch, Rock Garden, Woodland Garden and even a Sino-Himalayan Garden. It is a plant-collectors garden but we have tried to avoid the collections being a dominant factor in the design of the garden.

On our trips we try to visit Nurseries specialising in the plants we like, and we bring back home a lot of new interesting plants.

We even propagate plants for the garden. From cuttings received from gardening friends, but mostly from seeds received from societies, collectors of wild seed and friends from all over the world.

We are growing a wide range of plants in our garden but the plants we are most interested in are Japanese and North American plants growing in woodland conditions and plants from the Sino-Himalayan region.

Please click here for detailed lists of plants in our garden.

When clicking here you will be able to take a walk through the garden. We are sorry that these pages are in Danish only, but the pictures will probably give you an idea of the design of the garden.

To extend our knowledge of plants and gardening we would like to get into touch with other “plantoholics”. We are interested in exchanging interesting plants, bulbs and seeds with new gardening friends, and through the summer season we are opening our garden for visitors by appointment only, please.

If you are interested please contact us.
